Ooh, thank you, awesome recs! I've read the Sarah Waters books, but not any of the others, though I've heard of a few. And I knew I'd ran across a rec for a novel about Julie d'Aubigny somewhere, but couldn't remember it anymore - that was it! Also, I really need to get around to reading more about Asian history and Ancient History, so thanks especially for those recs - and the 19th century recs are nicely different from what you usually hear about in that era. I'll be putting a lot of things on my to-read shelf and seeing how I could track them down. :-)
